Challenges in Nonlinear Systems:

a meeting to celebrate the 65th birthday of Professor Tom Mullin
10th–11th September, 2015
Prof. Tom Mullin

Challenges in Nonlinear Systems was a two-day meeting, held on 10th–11th September 2015, to celebrate the 65th birthday of Professor Tom Mullin.

Tom’s research is at the forefront of a wide range of areas, including nonlinear dynamics, shear flow instabilities, fluid dynamics, soft matter, granular flows and suspensions, and the scientific programme of the meeting reflected the breadth of his research interests.

The programme consisted of a series of 30-minute talks given by distinguished invited speakers, and a poster session, for which contributions were invited from all attendees.

Location

The conference was held at the Chancellors Hotel and Conference Centre, Manchester, UK.

Fees and funding

Generous financial support for the meeting was received from the London Mathematical Society, the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, the School of Mathematics at the University of Manchester through an EPSRC platform grant and the Manchester Institute for Mathematical Sciences, and from the Institute of Physics.
